    Leavenworth Sock Hop of 2009
Although details have not been finalized, we're hoping to have a sock hop that will, well, knock your socks off. Did you know that according to some sources as many as 500 dances were introduced in the 1960s? According to wisegeek, those dances included The Mashed Potato, The Fly, The Penguin, The Monkey, The Swim and The Funky Chicken not to mention The Duck, The Locomotion, The Hanky Panky, Do The Freddie and The Twist.

Remember dancing to 'At The Hop' by Danny and The Juniors or holding that special someone at the Prom and slow-dancing to Elvis' 'I Can't Help Falling In Love' or The Delfonics' 'La La Means I Love You'? Do old songs like 'Cindy's Birthday' by Johnny Crawford, 'Do You Love Me?' by The Contours, '96 Tears' by the Mysterians, bring back any fond memories? You'll hear these and many more of your favorites at the Leavenworth Sock Hop of 2009. We're even planning to throw in a little Texas Two-Step or two, maybe a traditional roll out the barrel polka and for those of you who have trouble remembering the moves to those 500 dances from the sixties. . .we'll do The Hokey Pokey. It's not too early to start planning to attend the 9/9/09 Leavenworth reunion. You won't be disappointed and you'll have the time of your life.

One last piece of trivia in closing. Did you know that the city of Buffalo, New York, banned The Twist in 1962?
What were they thinking? See you in Leavenworth.
