Donald Lee “Don” Gilliard, 72, of Zolfo Springs, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
Don lived and worked in Milton for many years before retiring and moving to Zolfo Springs, Florida.
He was the middle son of the late Robert E. Lee Gilliard and Bonnie Jean Jones. He was a graduate
of Bitburg American High School in Germany and an Air Force Veteran. He was a retired A & P Mechanic
and truck driver. Don was a member of The First Baptist Church of Zolfo Springs.
Don could often be found working on cars, motorcycles and generally tinkering in his workshop.
He recently completed his prized project, a Harley Davidson Trike. He loved helping people and
his friends knew they could rely on him to fix just about anything. He loved fishing and spending
time with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by so many.
Don is preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lee Gilliard; mother, Bonnie Jean Jones “Gigi”;
and his stepfather, Paul Weston Jones “Grandad”
Don is survived by his son, Weston Lee (Emily) Gilliard; daughter, Corrina Jean (Timmy) Harp;
seven grandchildren, Jonathan Weston Gilliard, Colton Michael Fancher, Madeline Maurine Fancher,
Easton Wayne Harp, Melanie Page Harp, Shyanne Elizabeth Harp and Kaylynn Marie Harp; brothers
Harold E. Bruce Gilliard, Robert “Bobby” Gilliard; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at
Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, with Rev. Bill Wright officiating.
